Our history

We started in 2018, frustrated that the financial services sector was stuck in the past, with poor legacy systems and the rising regulatory burden.

Drawing on our private client heritage, and backed by Lloyd’s Names, we had a clear plan of what needed changing – and spotted a big opportunity, to more effectively harness the power of data and tech to drive growth in the industry.

We’ve since raised multiple rounds of investment, and our ambitions have only got bigger.

Chris Kenning
Chief Executive Officer

Chris founded the business that evolved into Stubben Edge in 2010. In 2018, he led a management buyout, creating Stubben Edge Group. Chris began his career in the Conservative Research Department and later worked in financial services at Grant Thornton and Strand Partners. He established the UK arm of an offshore financial institution with over £12.5 billion under management and has also lectured at Hull University. Chris is a Chartered Accountant and a member of the ICAEW.

Karen Barretto
Deputy Chief Executive Officer

Karen joined what is now Stubben Edge in 2013 as Head of Technical Services, responsible for improving the product suite. She was promoted to Deputy Managing Director in 2016, focusing on Sales and Product Development. With a Law degree from London Guildhall University, Karen is a registered Trust and Estate Practitioner. She has extensive wealth management experience, including with Canada Life Limited and MetLife Limited. Before Stubben Edge, she was Head of UK Trust Sales at Barclays Wealth and Investment Management. Karen was also on the Product Tax Panel at the ABI for five years.

Jason Bingham
Chief Technology Officer

With 25+ years in software development and IT, Jason has directed software engineering teams for over 10 years, delivering projects in insurance, finance, and healthcare. He oversees technical aspects of Stubben Edge Group's entities, following ISO27001. Jason serves the Group's insurance, lending, savings, and open banking divisions, utilizing technical teams in the UK, Europe, Africa, and India. He completed the Executive Leadership course at the University of Oxford's Saïd Business School in 2022 to further his leadership skills.

Sam Tucker
Chief Financial Officer

As Chief Financial Officer, Sam is responsible for the Group’s financial, investment and capital activities. He joined Stubben Edge from Pacific Investments, where he was responsible for overseeing deal origination and investment appraisal. Prior to that he was a Senior Manager at PwC with a focus on insurance and investment management. Sam is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).

Dean Moulder
Chief Legal Officer

Dean is a qualified lawyer, having obtained his Bachelor of Laws from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg. He held a Directorship at a Johannesburg law firm serving multinational clients in the financial services sector for 7 years before joining Stubben Edge Group Limited as Group Legal Advisor. He is responsible for corporate governance, FCA regulatory and compliance, M&A transactions, and the legal framework of the Group. Dean established a team that covers all aspects of the business and maintains a robust approach to compliance and regulation. He was involved in establishing the protected cell structure in Guernsey.

Anne Lucas
Chief People Officer

Anne Lucas is the Chief People Officer for Stubben Edge Group. With 20 years of experience in HR, she specializes in delivering people solutions and strategies for fast-paced organizations. Anne has supported fast-growing international businesses in various industries through organic growth, transformation, and M&A. She also has experience supporting start-ups in scaling up while maintaining their unique culture and way of working. Anne designed the HR infrastructure to support the Group's business objectives while ensuring a great employee experience.

Jonathan Seymour
Chief Marketing Officer

As Chief Marketing Officer, Jon is responsible for marketing, customer generation, and brand. He joined in September 2022, bringing with him 20+ years of digital marketing and leadership experience. Jon has spent the last ten years delivering SME customer generation to a significant number of blue chip brands, prior to which he led sales teams within a market-leading financial services media and events business.
